A pittance is all I have to show you after all this time.
A couple of weeks ago I started to make vintage Simplicity 6672 (sometimes called the Goddess dress). I started sewing a muslin out of polyester jersey, but we are in week 2 of having a houseguest for 3 weeks (eeeee! 3 weeks!) and I just can't sew when I have guests, unless they are sewing friends of course.
I am going a bit crazy with the not sewing.
I am going to show you the frock, with the hem awkwardly pinned, the armholes unfinished, and the seams all puckery because this is stoopid poly jersey and despite a walking foot and jersey needle and stretch stitch it's the best I could do.
I don't know whether I'll finish it looking at that photo. I think it looks better in real life. If I do finish it I'll have to wear it to places where I won't be photographed! Or just ditch this one and make it in a nicer fabric.I don't usually do muslins, but this is a very different style for me. As it is I took heaps of volume out of the skirt because I only had 2 metres of fabric. I don't think I'd like it with a very heavy skirt. What do you think? Worth finishing, make it in a nicer knit, or give up?

That pattern has been on my wishlist for a long time. May I make a suggestion? I think the bodice is too small or actually too narrow. All the lovely gathers (the goddess-y part) is missing from your muslin. It looks too sleek and almost seems to fit over your bust. Perhaps make a size larger in the bodice part? Just a suggestion...
If you keep working with this pattern, you will find success. It's a great dress-I have long off plans to make it, too. Have you seen this? Gigi made this this dress and blogged about it. I believe she summarizes the types of fabrics she thinks that will work for this pattern. Here is the link (there are two pages, so be sure to look at both).

I agree, the bodice isn't fitting properly--the neck near the collar near the neck seems a little close.

Thank you ladies, you have opened my eyes! I can see now that the bodice isn't Goddessy enough and I think I'll try to find some nicer fabric and start again!
And the collar gave me some trouble, because I don't read instructions properly. Whoops!
That's what muslins are for, right?
I've been looking through your blog for the first time. Wow! I used to sew and I can't tell you how impressed I am with the pics of your dresses, etc. You're my new hero! Good luck with future projects.
