Dogwood Donna

I ordered the current issue of Knitscene magazine and a back copy from the innernets. Such cute patterns! I rushed out and bought some wool/alpaca yumminess to start on this...isn't she adorable? I'm doing her in dark grey with a similar flower, although I had to get a slightly darker shade of pink because that's all they had. I might go to another Spottie tomorrow to check if there's a paler pink available. Can't sew, obsessed with cute vintagey top....doesn't she look gorgeous with a straight skirt? Mmmmmmm.

Eyeful of Eiffel

I thought I had better get moving on making some frocks for upcoming events, (Wilco and Calexico) so here's a contender. New Look 6557 view B, with bias binding instead of lining and back facing (wonder where I got that idea from?). I had to put some binding around the hem because once I'd mostly finished, it needed more pink. Do you like how the towers look like rockets taking off from the bodice?

Thank you for muslining New Look 6557 numerous times. Here is an action shot of my View B in Hydrangeas (RJR "Touched By The Sun").

Just so I remember:

• I cut the midriff on the bias
• did bias-bound edges instead of lining the bodice
• added 1.5cm to top and bottom of back bodice
• .5cm to top and bottom of each front bodice piece and did 1cm hem
• cut the skirt just a smidge narrower to fit on the fabric.

I see a few more of these in my future...

What's with the non-frocks lately?

A girl needs separates and accessories too. (Oh what I would give to be able to make shoes. Interested in joining me on a shoe making course in Florence or somewhere?)

Anyway, here's the hourglass sweater, from last minute knitted gifts, hemmed, grafted and steam blocked. Cast on Friday, December 29th, finished Sunday, January 7th. Woo Hoo. I may never knit a jumper this fast ever again.

She is lovely, but I wish I hadn't used such stretchy lining, it's all puckery and yicky on some of the seams inside. Oh well. I do like my iPod pocket, on the front side lining. I appliqued El Musico on it. Appropriate!

I put two more pockets on the back lining, and appliqued La Mano on the phone pocket, El Corazon on the general purpose pocket. Not as appropriate!

At least with the different cards on the flap, and the different linings and pockets, we won't have any zany sitcom bag-switch situations. Unless we are very, very drunk.

PS it's 32 again. It's hard to think of appropriate outfits for below freezing weather when it is 32, let me tell you.

I bought the thinnest belt ever at section 8 today, and I must say, liking it with the faux shirtwaister.

Oh yeah, loving the faux shirtwaister which doubles, nay triples the clothing options. I haven't buttoned or topped and tailed her yet but I was impatient to see the results...

- the question is, should I just hem the neckline and bottom or put a narrow lace band on (a narrow version of the sleeve ends)

Here she is, finished with hem as suggested. She is comfy!
