I haven't been sewing lately, because I've been here:
I bought a few pieces of fabric:
one yard of 'midcentury modern' quilting cotton -
one yard of 'frida kahlo' quilting cotton-
and three yards of red/white/blue houndstoothy plaid suiting. $1 per yard!
Meanwhile, my house now smells like fresh baked apple pie, thanks to this candle I bought on sale while I was in LA. Mmm, pie.
The "midcentury modern" looks like the curtains I saw on old pictures from my family ... the 50s still rock *lol* Very cool!

Thank you for showing this! I'm off to the same place at the end of May. I'll also be in San Francisco and I've already researched fabric stores there. I love the fabrics you bought and I may just have to copy cat. I have a dress pattern in mind for that first fabric!
ReplyDeleteOhhh I love that "midcentury modern" fabric. Could/Would you share the maker/line info if you have it?

Yes livebird, it is splendid, but that fabric was unfortunately not $1 per yard, it was $9US per yard, and with the kinda crappy exchange rate at the time I thought a skirt or even a cushion would have to suffice!
